Selling Painted Armies on Ebay! Historicals, Malifaux, Warmachine

I am making room in the basement and selling some of my spare Warmachine/Hordes armies. I simply have no time to play and I'd rather have the money than models clotting my basement... that will only be a small dent in the stash...

I am selling all of my Cryx, my Cygnar, all my Khador for Warmachine. I'm selling my Arcanist creatures for Malifaux (without ever playing a single game of it). Finally, for the fans of historicals, I have a Viking army for Pig Wars or Saga.

Malifaux: My own warband!

A while ago, I painted a few armies worth of Malifaux models for my friend Steve-B's Malifaux addiction. I really liked the models as they were very dynamic, well-sculpted (esp when one compares with GW's FineCast) and painted up very nicely. Wyrd has done a great job and I really fought for the longest time before breaking down and getting some models for myself.

I chose the models simply based on looks. Not on tactica, tournament reports. No, just LOOKS. With a secret side-goal of re-using the models for NeoExodus or other RP projects.

I chose Rasputina because she looked good. I have yet to play with them as I refuse to play with unpainted models. Yes I am THAT guy.

Making a big push this past weekend, I finished Rasputina. I chose a snow/blue pattern rather than the pure white. I think it gives her depth. The final effect makes her look as those she were in a snowstorm. Which is really cool! I like it a lot.

The Gamins and Golem were finished a while ago... For the effects on the creatures, I used 3 layers of floor polish... Making these guys: SHINY!

Commissions: More Malifaux

More goodies for Stephen's Malifaux Tournament at Genghis Con. The first two Sonyas are weaker versions of the Avatar of Conflagration I painted last month

The others don't have much of a story. The witchlings I painted inspired and in the way I would do ringwraiths for Lord of the Rings. I just don't like to paint blacks so they were painted dark blue, then inked black then highlighted with grey. The result accomplished the effect better than I expected. I'm not used to black (I hate it), but this blue-to-black-to grey looks like dirty, dusty rags.

I hope he'll enjoy them and if he wins a prize for painting that he'll pass it on...

More goodies for Stephen!

So I started painting these guys for him. Stephen sent me a long email describing what he wanted and want he did not want...

So I painted and painted. After a first coat, I went back to his email and... I painted the guys the color he did NOT want (red). GAH! So I repainted the red highlights to a dirty green. I'm not sure what these guys do but they look to form an interesting war band. The green gives them a "natural" look and feeling right at home on the range (or the graveyard)...

I really like this effect, which is similar to my Eyriss for Warmachine. However these guys have more depth in the color and texture than Eyriss (this one is not for me).

The Lady Justice I painted with a mauve/pinkish tint to her unlike the guys, I did not repaint her. I kept the red undercoat and did one of my patented mauve treatment to her lingerie. The reddish/mauve effect looks very nice. I like the effect and how it plays with her hair. The hair is a multi-layered look with mid and lighter shades of purple... I keep thinking of a Malifaux version of Jem... Cuz she's totally outrageous!

January Commissions: More Malifaux

Some more commission work for Stephen' Malifaux army. These quality miniatures were great to paint.

The first one is the Avatar of Conflagration. It is a great miniature with a lot of character. I like how the woman came out. I painted here in a blue tint for two reasons: first because the rest of Stephen's army is in blue, doing that ties her into the rest of his minis; second, because it forms a clears contrast to the yellow/orange/red of the flame.

The second mini (actually numbers 2-4) are more of the little demon-things. I did some minor conversion (arm swaps) and painted them similar to the ones I did last month. I painted these a darker blue with red hair, so they can be distinguished on the tabletop. As I took the pictures, I noticed that I have to retouch one of the bases so it's all nice.
